Series I

Aramid grips

Aramid grips are non conductive and made of polyethylene coated aramid. The grips are intended for overhead cable of type ALUS, and also work well as a support grip or hose restraint. The polyethylene protects the aramid against both UV light and abrasion, and together they form a very strong thread that gives the grip high strength and low weight. The grip does not conduct current. The grips are available with single, double and side mounted eye.

Aramid is often called Kevlar.

The grips must not be used for lifting. This applies to every model in the range.

Aramid grips with single and double eye

IE: Aramid grip, single eye

  • Mesh of single (E) or double (D) polyethylene coated aramid
  • Non conductive
  • Low weight
  • Single eye

I is a series of synthetic grips intended for pulling overhead lines such as ALUS, and they also work well as a support grip or hose restraint. The grips are made of polyethylene coated aramid. The aramid gives the grip a high tensile strength and the polyethylene coating protects it against UV light and abrasion. An aramid grip is gentler on the cable and does not conduct current.

How to read the tables

  • The mesh length is given at nominal diameter.
  • The eye length is given for an unloaded eye.
  • BS is the breaking strength, given in kilograms.
  • The weight is given in kilograms.

Reservations about breaking strength

BS is the average of measured breaking strengths for new, unused grips. The breaking strength varies with the material, shape and diameter of the object the grip is fitted to, and the variation can reach 25 percent. Pulling grips should never be loaded above 1/3 of BS and support grips never above 1/5 of BS. More about breaking strength and safety factor
