Series S

Connection grips

Connection grips are used to link two objects together. They come in two versions. The wire rope connection grip is used for joining cable and wire rope. The cable connection grip is heavier and is used for wire rope and phase conductors.

Used as an aid for wire rope replacement.

The grips must not be used for lifting. This applies to every model in the range.

SK: Cable connection grip

  • Braided from double galvanised steel wire
  • Ferrule at the centre

SK is a series of connection grips for joining cable, synthetic rope, wire rope and hose. The model consists of two DE grips joined at the centre with a ferrule. The connection grip can be used when replacing rotation resistant crane ropes. Note: when replacing a stranded wire rope or crane rope, use two DE grips linked with a swivel instead, so that no torque is transferred into the new rope.

SL: Wire rope connection grip

  • Braided in sections of triple, double and single galvanised steel wire
  • Ferrule at the centre with soft wire rope

SL is a series of wire rope connection grips for joining wire rope and phase conductors that take high pulling forces and are hard to grip. The model consists of two LE grips joined at the centre with a ferrule and soft wire rope. Note: when joining a stranded wire rope, use two LE grips linked with a swivel instead, so that no torque is transferred into the new rope.

How to read the tables

  • The mesh length is given at nominal diameter.
  • The eye length is given for an unloaded eye.
  • BS is the breaking strength, given in kilograms.
  • The weight is given in kilograms.

Reservations about breaking strength

BS is the average of measured breaking strengths for new, unused grips. The breaking strength varies with the material, shape and diameter of the object the grip is fitted to, and the variation can reach 25 percent. Pulling grips should never be loaded above 1/3 of BS and support grips never above 1/5 of BS. More about breaking strength and safety factor
