Hose restraint grips

Hose restraint grips, also called hose safety grips, are used as a restraint at hose attachments. The grip prevents the whiplash of a hose, and the injury and damage that follows, when a coupling fails.

Used as protection at couplings for hydraulic and high pressure hose.

The grips must not be used for lifting. This applies to every model in the range.

FD: Hose restraint grip, double eye

  • Braided from double galvanised or stainless wire
  • Double eye with pressed thimbles (or soft wire rope eyes)

FD is a series of hose restraint grips with double eyes and pressed thimbles. Hose restraint grips, also called hose safety grips, protect against the whiplash of a high pressure hose when a coupling fails. A failed hose coupling can injure people and damage equipment. Every model in the FD series has a double eye and is fitted with pressed thimbles.

How to read the tables

  • The mesh length is given at nominal diameter.
  • The eye length is given for an unloaded eye.
  • BS is the breaking strength, given in kilograms.
  • The weight is given in kilograms.

Reservations about breaking strength

BS is the average of measured breaking strengths for new, unused grips. The breaking strength varies with the material, shape and diameter of the object the grip is fitted to, and the variation can reach 25 percent. Pulling grips should never be loaded above 1/3 of BS and support grips never above 1/5 of BS. More about breaking strength and safety factor
